Maryanne is a physician who has held leadership roles at many prominent health-care institutions in the U.S. She has published multiple peer-reviewed papers in prestigious journals including Circulation, Journal of Pediatrics, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and others, and was a member of the editorial board for The Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation. An advocate for children’s health, she’s currently a medical director at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in South Florida.
She received her bachelor of science from Tufts University, where she studied poetry with Denise Levertov. She graduated from New York Medical College and completed a pediatrics residency, cardiology fellowship and advanced fellowship in cardiac transplant, heart failure, and mechanical circulatory support at Babies Hospital, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University (now, New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital). While in New York she studied poetry with Gallway Kinnell, and writing coach Lenora DeSio.
Maryanne is still raising her twin sons who are now in college. She enjoys biking, weight training and traveling, and frequently returns to her New York roots.
